A ONE DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME
OVERVIEW Scientific evidence has established that when people communicate, only a maximum 30% of our message is communicated via ‘what we say’ or our words. The other 70% or more is communicated via our non-verbal or body language gestures such as our hand and body movements, facial expressions as well as our tone and pitch of voice.
This statistic suggests that if we don’t understand what our ‘non-verbal’ gestures are communicating to others, we only, by implication, have 30% control over our message. On the same vein, not knowing what this other 70% non-verbal gestures mean could leave us vulnerable to being deceived or missing out on the truth.
For those of us in management, being able to read these non-verbal cues can give us a critical advantage when conducting business negotiations, resolving conflicts and developing win-win outcomes in any conversations we enter into.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN • How understanding non-verbal gestures can give you the upper hand in any conversation you enter into • Understanding the three broad areas of body language that affect the communication message • How to detect deception • Understanding the seven universal facial expressions called ‘micro-expressions” • How to identify a “micro-expression” and use it to your advantage • How to get people to feel more comfortable with you • Using your understanding of body language practically in your communication with your subordinates • How to uncover the truth when someone may be withholding information or reluctant to share
